PatientFlow Technology Staff, Consultants and Board Members

Richard Siegrist, MBA, MS, CPA is President and Chief Executive Officer of PatientFlow Technology, Inc. He is also a faculty member at the Harvard School of Public Health where he is Adjunct Lecturer on Management in the Department of Health Policy and Management. He has been teaching financial management, management control and decision support for the last 20 years in the graduate, executive and physician education programs.  He recently received the Roger L. Nichols Excellence in Teaching Award for 2008.

Previously, Mr. Siegrist was Senior Vice President & General Manager of WebMD Quality Services, a division of WebMD, the leading provider of health information. WebMD acquired HealthShare Technology, Inc., the company that Richard Siegrist co-founded and for which he served as President and CEO. HealthShare provided healthcare information, software and services to hospitals and health plans. He received a US patent (#5,652,842) with his brother Donald for “Analysis and reporting of performance of service providers.”

Richard Siegrist also co-founded Transition Systems, Inc. (TSI), a for-profit subsidiary of Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston that was acquired by Eclipsys. At various times, he served as Vice President of Consulting, Vice President of Operations and Chief Financial Officer for a leading provider of hospital cost accounting and decision support software. Richard began his career in healthcare at New England Medical Center. He holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School, an MS in Accounting from the New York University Graduate School of Business and a BA in Political Economy from Williams College. He is also a CPA.

Christina Dempsey, BSN, MBA, CNOR is Senior Vice President for Clinical Operations of PatientFlow Technology, Inc .  Ms. Dempsey is a registered nurse with over 20 years experience in perioperative nursing, perioperative and emergency services management, supply chain and materials management, and physician/hospital collaboration. In her role as SVP of Clinical Operations, she serves as project director and clinical/operational expert for PatientFlow Technology client implementations.

Since 2002, Ms. Dempsey has been at the forefront of patient flow initiatives. In her tenure as Vice President and Director of Perioperative Services at St. John¡¦s Regional Health Center in Springfield, MO, she led the collaborative effort between physician and hospital leadership to improve patient flow throughout Perioperative services and beyond creating 59% more inpatient capacity by smoothing the flow of elective admissions to the hospital. In addition to her expertise in patient flow initiatives, Ms. Dempsey has led multiple projects to improve throughput, reduce cost, and increase volumes and revenues. In addition, she is on the Advisory Board for OR Manager magazine as well as the planning committee for OR Manager conferences, Managing Today¡¦s OR Suite and OR Business Manager. Christy regularly speaks and publishes on physician/hospital collaboration, retention and recruitment strategies, patient flow, balancing quality and efficiency, cost reduction and revenue enhancement throughout the hospital.

Ms. Dempsey received her undergraduate degree in Nursing and graduate degree in business from Missouri State University and is a certified operating room nurse. She has been on the frontline of hospital operations with the challenges and opportunities in the very complex environments of perioperative, emergency, critical care, trauma, and select service lines including bariatrics, seniors, burns, neuroscience, and cardiovascular.

Osnat Levtzion-Korach, MD, MHA is Clinical Project Director for PatientFlow Technology. She is also a Research Associate at the Center for Clinical Excellence at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston where she is involved in patient safety and quality of care initiatives. Dr. Levtzion-Korach graduated from the Hadassah – Hebrew University Medical School, Jerusalem in 1995. After completing with honors her training in Pediatrics at the Hadassah Medical Center, Dr. Levtzion-Korach went into a second residency in hospital management and health care delivery at Hadassah. She spent part of her residency in the Israeli Ministry of Health working with the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Health. Dr. Levtzion-Korach earned her Masters degree in Health Administration at Recanati Business School, Tel-Aviv University. She has served in senior hospital management positions including Assistant to the Director General of Hadassah Hospital, a leading tertiary hospital with 1,000 beds in Jerusalem Israel. She has been deeply involved in all levels of hospital management including decision making, articulation of vision and future plans as well as hospital operational issues (e.g. hospital budget, ED overcrowding, waiting times, solving patient placement problems, using resources efficiently).

At the national level Dr. Levtzion-Korach was part of the team that establishes criteria for evaluation of the quality of care delivered in hospitals in Israel. As a pediatrician aware of children’s vulnerability, she served on the Board of Beterem, the national organization for children’s safety and established a branch at the Hadassah Medical Center. Her interests include patient safety, patient flow, quality assurance (establishing measures for evaluation of clinical work), and improvement of processes and better usage of resources in the health care system. At the MVP Dr. Levtzion-Korach was involved in coordinating the work of MVP Clinical Consultants and providing consultation and technical assistance to clinicians and administrators of hospitals engaged in MVP projects.

Susan Madden, MS is Vice President of Analytics for PatientFlow Technology, Inc.  In that role, she is responsible for client implementations.  Previously, she was Manager, Clinical Data Policy and Analysis at the Massachusetts Division of Health Care Finance and Policy where she was responsible for all clinical databases, ensuring the quality of data and overseeing analytic support.  Ms Madden has also been a freelance health writer for EBSCO Publishing Company and educational case writer for the Harvard School of Public Health.  She is the author of the book "The Preemie Parents' Companion:  The Essential Guide to Caring for Your Premature Baby in the Hospital, at Home and Through the First Years" published by the Harvard Common Press, 2000.

Ms. Madden holds an MS in Health Policy and Management from the Harvard School of Public Health and a BA in Biology from Radcliffe/Harvard College.

Kenneth Larson , MD is Clinical Consultant for PatientFlow Technology, Inc.  For the past 15 years, Dr. Larson has been on the front lines at St John's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, working not only as a general burn and trauma surgeon, but also as the medical director of the hospital's burn services. Dr. Larson has also been the physician champion on patient flow projects since 1998. He worked very closely with Christy Dempsey on patient flow, hospital and physician collaboration, and hospital management projects, presentations and publications.

Dr. Larson graduated from the University of Missouri - Columbia Medical School where he also completed his residency. He earned his undergraduate degree from Drake University in Des Moines, IA.

Nancy Kane, DBA serves on the Board of Directors of PatientFlow Technology, Inc.  She is Professor of Management in the Department of Health Policy and Management and Associate Dean of Educational Programs at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Kane also directs the Masters in Healthcare Management Program, an executive leadership program created for mid-career physicians leading healthcare organizations. Professor Kane consults with a wide range of federal and state agencies involved in health system design, oversight, and payment. She is an outside director of the Urban Medical Group, a nonprofit physician group practice providing care to frail elderly in institutional and home settings, and a member of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, an independent federal body advising the U.S. Congress on issues affecting the Medicare Program.

Dr. Kane earned her Masters and Doctoral Degrees in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
